This past Saturday, Rodeo Austin hosted its annual gala. The event raises money to support its mission of promoting youth education and preserving western heritage. The opening musical act was the San Antonio based band Two Tons of Steel. Their unique blend of Texas Country and rockabilly is packed into a fun and high energy performance.
I visited with front man Kevin Geil afterwards. He mentioned that he is a former photojournalist. We swapped stories about cameras and assignments. I can’t speak to his photography, but after listening to this talented band, I think he made a great career move. Rock on Two Tons of Steel. I hope our paths cross again.
